Yeah, she won.

Hillary won the debate series (in the Real World -- as opposed to the Trump/Drudge/Breitbart World), and in more ways than one.

She won on points.  She won by not making any major flubs.  She won by giving SNL plenty of material to make Trump an even bigger laughing stock -- and winning another pair of deserved Emmy's for Baldwin & McKinnon.

But mostly, Trump lost, by driving the news (in numerous bad ways) in the post-debate periods.  The Machado Incident after the first debate -- exposing his egomaniacal inability to suppress talking (and tweeting) about a personal slight, even at the expense of his stated goal of becoming president.

The flood of sexual assault accusers after he took the Access Hollywood/Anderson Cooper bait at the second debate.

The Breitbart-fueled final debate where he threatened to hold democracy "in suspense" if he doesn't like the results on November 8, before rattling off a nonsensical answer careening from Syria to Mosul and back, and scaring every sane person everywhere in the process.

And finally, the ensuing crackup after the third exchange, where HE thinks he won all three debates -- as his polling numbers have plummeted.

Yeah, I'd say she won.  :-)

Does Trump understand how Obamacare works?

Listening to The Donald talk today about Obamacare reminded me of this little detail about Dubya's (lack of) knowledge of Islam and Middle East history before the 2003 invasion of Iraq:

"In the course of the conversation the Iraqis realized that the President was not aware that there was a difference between Sunni and Shiite Muslims. He looked at them and said, "You mean...they're not, you know, there, there's this difference. What is it about?""

Tell me you don't hear that same level of ignorance in this quote from today:

“I don't use much Obamacare, I must be honest with you,” he said, “because it is so bad for the people and they can't afford it. And, like, for instance, I'm at the Trump National Doral in Miami, and we don't even use Obamacare."

Does he think it's a brand of mulch?

He's Wasted Our Time

No surprise here. A bunch of us called bullshit on this "No, we're not planning an Alt-right media outlet after we waste the GOP's shot at stopping Hillary" MONTHS AGO.  Now they're raking in the dough from the Trump cultists and flipping a big bird to the GOP, the DNC, the media, and mostly sadly, to the American people.

He has wasted our time when we should have been discussing real issues -- the economy, national security, immigration, health care, civil rights, criminal justice reform, campaign finance reform, climate change, nuclear weapons, Russia, Iran, Iraq, Syria, ISIS, North Korea and more.

But his blatant and conspicuous lack of self-vetting -- because he never wanted or expected to actually WIN, people! -- has led us down the rabbit hole of whether or not he offered $10,000 and a ride on Trump Force One to a porn star.  Literally.

He has wasted the precious quadrennial job handed down to us by the Founding Fathers, picking a new president.

He has wasted our nation's most important opportunity to take stock of where we are and most importantly, where we want to go.  Instead of that crucial debate, this clown has not only wasted our time, but he did it in part by appealing to our fears and our divisions, not to our common values and that most basic of American qualities, optimism.

And we should never forget those he brought in from the dark, those who live in the most vile corners of America -- Steve Bannon and Roger Ailes, Roger Stone and Alex Jones, David Duke and the super-shady Putin-loving Paul Manafort et al.

And ALL Trump supporters must answer for the fact that Trump's America would include the normalization and emboldening of neo-Nazis and white nationalists and Anti-Semites and racists and islamophobes and sexists and conspiracy nuts.  Fuck him.  America is better than that.

He's wasted our time and now he needs to pay, by going down to a crushing defeat at the ballot box.

Wanna humuliate Donald Trump? Write-in Donald Duck

This is George McGovern.

He has the dubious distinction of being one of the biggest "losers" in modern presidential politics.  He was a good and decent man, beaten by a crook.

He lost the electoral college by 520-17!!!   Now, there is no way Trump will lose that big (although at this rate, I might not rule it out.  :-)  )

But look at his popular vote total:  60.7% for Nixon, 37.5% for McGovern.

37.5% difference.

Today's RealClearPolitics average in the race is 48% Clinton, 42% Trump.   That's only a 4.5 point swing needed to make Donald J. Trump the biggest loser in modern presidential politics.  How sweet and satisfying would it be to see that as the first line in his Wikipedia entry?

Put simply, we need a campaign to drive DOWN his popular vote percentage.

For everyone who lives outside a swing state, this is a way to make your vote finally count for something.

For everyone who just can't bring themselves to vote for either Trump or Clinton, this is a way to say, "We need better choices."

For everyone who says, "screw it, I hate Donald Trump but Hillary has this wrapped up so why waste my time even going to the polling place," this is a real, concrete way for the whole nation to flip him a big middle finger.

And for everyone unwilling or unable to cast a vote for the former Secretary of State (and former two-term Senator and former First Lady of Arkansas and the US) and yet also horrified that this man came close to representing us on the world stage, it is a way to tell the world, "No.  The USA is better than that.  He does not represent what is good and special about America, and we rejected him by historic margins."

So if you fall into one of those categories-- and are planning to file a protest vote with either Johnson or Stein or just stay home -- I'd ask you to write-in someone else, literally ANYONE else.   Remember, every vote for Donald Duck is one less vote for Donald Trump.  :-)
